Join the Presbyterian Refugee Support Network

“Do not neglect to show hospitality to strangers, for by doing that some have entertained angels without knowing it.” – Hebrews 13:2

Over 102,000,000 people worldwide have no place to call home. In Biblical times, such people were referred to as “strangers.” Today we might refer to them as “displaced persons,” “asylum seekers” or “refugees.”

Many Presbyterian congregations throughout Iowa participate in refugee support in different ways. What is becoming increasingly apparent as the worldwide refugee crisis grows, is the need for greater communication and collaboration among organizations and agencies to meet the needs of refugees who are entering our state in increasing numbers to seek a new life.

On August 5th, Collegiate Presbyterian Church in Ames will host a meeting and discussion from 1-4 PM to develop a collaborative network of Presbyterians throughout Iowa to share information, pool resources, and support refugee serving agencies in our communities.

This effort is not designed to create another agency or to ask churches to do more than they already are, but rather to answer this question…

How can we work together?

You are invited to attend or send a representative from your congregation to this important event.

Location: Collegiate Presbyterian Church, 159 Sheldon Ave, Ames, IA 50014

Thank you so much for your prayerful consideration.
